Ann Barbara Getman

Ann Barbara (Abata) Getman, 91, of Exton, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born in Southington, CT to James and Pauline Abata.  During her senior year in high school she met the love of her life, Paul Anthony Getman (Sr.), who had just moved to Southington from Shamokin, PA.  They married in May, 1951 and moved to Meriden, CT where they resided until moving to Coatesville, PA in 2006. During her time in Meriden, Ann worked as a bookkeeper for a variety of companies and financial institutions.

Ann had a great love of cruising and traveled the world, exploring Italy, England, Russia, Greece, Turkey and Spain, among many other counties. She was an avid reader and even after she moved to PA she routinely shared books back and forth with her former neighbor and best friend of over 60 years, Norma Galoppi of Meriden.

Most of all, Ann was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children: Paul Getman Jr. of Exton, Karen Getman of Alamo, CA, and Pamela O’Keefe, wife of John, of Coatesville; her grandchildren Max, Katharine, Dustin, Daniel, and Alek; her sister-in-law and brother-in law Constance and Mickey D’Angelo of Plantsville, CT; her best friend Norma Galoppi of Meriden, CT; her devoted caregiver Bryan Culp of West Chester, PA; and numerous extended family members.  The family greatly appreciates the loving care provided by the staff at Eagleview Landing in Exton, and by the caregivers from Penn Hospice.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ann was preceded in death by her siblings: Jack Abata, Libby Walton, and Julia Custer.

A private memorial service and burial will be held on December 3. Memorial contributions in Ann’s name may be made to your local hospice organization.
