Betty Jane Amoriello

Betty Jane Amoriello, nee Henson, 93, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Tel Hai Retirement Community. Betty was the daughter of the late Ray Henson and Sally Gentry as well as loving wife to Anthony S. Amoriello, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2014. Betty was born in Mountain City, TN before moving to Pennsylvania as a young child. Betty was a faithful Catholic who was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Downingtown, PA.

She loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. While her granddaughters were growing up Betty spent her days watching after them and was always present at all their events. She loved sitting on the porch talking with neighbors, taking afternoon drives through the country side and frequent trips to the Atlantic City Casinos to play the slots with Tony. Betty made the best tuna fish sandwiches, baked beans and Italian Wedding Soup which no one has ever been able to replicate. Betty also loved reading tabloid magazines, collecting salt and pepper shakers and her weekly trips to the hair salon.

After moving into Tel Hai Betty loved getting visits from her great grandchildren and spending her days cruising the hallways. Betty’s family is forever grateful for the love and care she received by the staff at Tel Hai Retirement Community over the last nine years.

Betty is survived by Son-in-law, Dennis Riggins (Sandy); Grandchildren Dale Riggins, Janice Williams (Nick) and Sallie Seidel (Travis); and by great-grandchildren Samantha Riggins, Gabriel and Dennis Roberts, Aiden Jones, Riley and Mitchell Williams and Callie Seidel. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Larry A. Amoriello; daughter, Toni A. Riggins and her siblings.

Betty will be laid to rest at Bradford Cemetery, Friday, January 29, 2021 at 12:00pm.
