Catherine Diane Pope

Catherine Diane (Koehler) Pope, 78, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at home with her family. Born in Jackson, MO, Catherine was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Catherine T. (Horrell) Koehler of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was the wife of James B. Pope, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

She had a spirit of adventure. After graduating from high school, she moved to Denver, Colorado and worked in the booming oil industry. She met Lt. James Pope in Denver and they married in 1969. His Air Force career would take them all over the country including South Carolina, Maryland, California, and Denver CO, where they raised their two children, and then to Pennsylvania for 30 years. With each move, she created a loving home, beautiful gardens and a strong family. In their retirement, she traveled the world with her husband.

She leveraged her artistry skills and creativity into a series of entrepreneurial businesses, including an antique shop in Maryland and building miniature houses in Colorado. She was creative and generous with her talents from leading scouts to making costumes for school plays to making her daughter's wedding dress. She made each occasion special. She took great pride in the beauty of her gardens and her home and she was an excellent cook. She was loved by many close friends and family throughout the country and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Catherine is survived by her children: Tracey Dulin of Portland, OR, and James C. Pope, husband of Tiffany Cory, of Pottstown. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Henry, Connor, Oliver, and Meredith; brothers: Donald Koehler (Carol), Michael Koehler (Jane), and Mark Koehler (Jenifer).

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her brother, David Koehler.

Services will be conducted privately with family, and her remains will be returned to Colorado which she loved.
