Charles Francis McWilliams, 79, of Unionville, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Gail (Heinzeroth) McWilliams, who passed away in 2010.
Born in Philadelphia on July 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Francis A. and Alberta (Staub) McWilliams. Charles graduated from John Bartram High School and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester State College. He worked as a music teacher in the Philadelphia school district, and subbed as a music teacher in the Unionville school district. Charles was an accomplished musician, and a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild, still carrying the card in his wallet. He was a music director for area theaters, including Swarthmore Players Club and People’s Light and Theater. A man of many talents, Charles was also a costumer for the Mummer’s Parade, being an active participant in the Fancy Division and String Bands.
Surviving is his sister Alberta McWilliams Bowen and her children John Bowen, Bonnie Bareis and Anne Bowen-Long, sister-in-law Helen McWilliams and her children Robert McWilliams, Scott McWilliams and Nancy Acito; great nieces and nephews Dr. Lauren Jenkins, Rebecca Jenkins, Elizabeth Bareis, Matthew McWilliams, Tara McWilliams, Robert McWilliams and Shawn McWilliams; great great nieces and nephews Bobbi, Blake, Ashton and Pierce. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert McWilliams.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11 AM at James Terry Funeral Home, 736 E Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. An evening viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home, as well as Thursday morning from 9:45 am - 10:45 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
