Claire N. Gebhardt, 94, of Freedom Village, West Brandywine, PA., formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
Claire was born on February 16, 1928, in Pittsburgh. The love of her life, Randall (Randy) J. Gebhardt, had passed away on her birthday 18 years prior.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Blair (Brian) of Malvern; her son, Bruce Gebhardt (Celeste) of Tuxedo Park; three grandchildren, Greg Blair (Karla Ch’ien), Colleen Cluney (T.J. Cluney), Olivia Gebhardt and two great-grandchildren (Remi and Rory).
Claire graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh (now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1950 with a B.S. in Home Economics. She worked as a dietician in Pittsburgh Public Schools for five years before returning home to raise her family. Claire and her husband Randy had moved to the Philadelphia area over 24 years ago to be closer to family. She taught her family strength and grace as she battled numerous medical illnesses. By example, she taught whatever obstacles are put in your life, do not let them stop you. She would always say pick yourself up and keep on going. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unconditional love for her family was apparent in all that she did. She volunteered for AIM Academy by editing their first website, baking cookies for the first open houses in 2006 and for subsequent years later, and cutting out word cards for children to practice reading.
