Dorothy Irwin Lucas

Dorothy Irwin Lucas, 90, passed away on September 12, 2022, at her home in Exton.  She was the widow of Jack Irwin, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage and Stephen Lucas with whom she shared 14 years of marriage.

Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Marian Hyde.  Dorothy graduated Pottstown High School in 1950.

She was employed at Downingtown Iron Works as a secretary from 1950 – 1957 and Belk’s Department Store in Miami Florida as salesperson and Department Head Buyer from 1958 –  1962.                                              

Dorothy was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Downingtown.  She enjoyed her friends and family.  Dorothy will be remembered for her green thumb for her house plants and her love of Broadway shows, big band music and Dancing With the Stars.

She is survived by her son, Jay Irwin (Kathy); grand dog, Holly; Steve’s children, Ann Lucas, Mark Lucas (Priscilla), Eric Lucas (Bonnie), Leaf Lucas (Joan); 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.  In addition to her mother and spouses, she was preceded in death by Steve’s son, Stephen Lucas in 2010.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA, where family and friends will be received from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery.

SPADE is a non-profit faith-based Christian retreat, conference and outreach center located in beautiful, rural Steinsville, PA.  The 7 acre plus property includes a unique 36 room Inn built in 1832 called The Inn of Hope.  This Inn is a special place to house a variety of groups and individuals including International students, youth groups, men/ladies retreats, pastors, missionaries and more.
