Eric A. Birdsey, 36, of Downingtown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at his home.
Born in Starkville, Mississippi, he was the son of Richard A. Birdsey and the late Debbie Morse Birdsey.
Eric graduated from Downingtown High and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Millersville University. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hike, camp, fish, and shoot targets. He loved fireworks and often performed a show with his friends and family. He truly celebrated and lived his Irish heritage, with his big red beard and Irish cap. He loved working outdoors and had several different jobs of that nature. He was also a skilled metal worker having been employed as a welder by a fabricating company, and for his hobby, making functional and beautiful knives of different styles, all with handles of attractive wood or other materials. He was exceptionally good at keeping small motors running well, and liked to pick up old ones that didn’t work and fix them up. He made many good friends over the years, and all found him to be an engaging and joyful companion.
In addition to his father, Eric is survived by his brother, Jason P. Birdsey and by his father’s wife, Patricia VanAntwerpen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown.
