Evelyn M. Hadley

Evelyn M. Hadley, “Evie”, 78, of Malvern, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022.  She was the beloved wife of Barry L. Hadley, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vincent A. and Evelyn Johnson Smith.

Evelyn worked in the banking industry at the National Bank of Chester Valley for many years before moving over to the medical field. In 2015, Evelyn retired from an Eastern Virginia Medical School family practice. While in retirement, Evelyn enjoyed organizing special events and served on the Coatesville High School class of 1963 Alumni Committee for class reunions.

When not working on special events, Evelyn enjoyed doing Sudoku and word puzzles, listening to music and doing FaceTime calls on her iPad with the grandchildren. Evelyn was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville, PA, where she served on the Altar Guild Committee.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn is survived by her three daughters, Denise Williams (John), Lisa Verdich (Torben) and Tina Habecker (Herb); four grandchildren; one brother, Vincent J. Smith and by three sisters, Violet Hart, Sara Gallagher and Sandra Davidson. She was predeceased by one brother, James Smith and by two sisters, Patricia McGinnis and Gloria Duca.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2022, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Downingtown.
