George Joseph Villarose, 90, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday August 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of Margaret R. Orlando Villarose, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George F. and Rose Pirrolo Villarose.

George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

George was a dedicated and loyal family man, who loved spending time with his family and doting over his grandchildren. He also served as a mentor to younger colleagues in his field and to his nephews.

George grew up in West Philadelphia and attended St. Thomas Moore High School, where he graduated in 1948. After serving in the United States Air Force, George earned his Associates Degree from Temple University in Technology.

In the early 1970’s, George started his own business in telecommunications. His company, Teleplex would be the first business in Philadelphia to compete with Bell Telephone. Subsequently, George would go on to work for Executone, Henkels & McCoy and Siemens.

A former season ticket holder, George loved watching, reading and talking about the Eagles. He was an avid reader, always wanting to learn and increase his knowledge in various areas. He loved his dogs, most recently spending time with Lucy, Jackson and Walter.  For many years George played golf on Sundays, and well into retirement worked at Hershey’s Mill Golf Club. He also enjoyed music, where he participated in the Mummers parade in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s, playing tenor saxophone while marching with the Palmyra String Band.  George loved eating breakfast at Diners through the years, with his more recent favorites being Philly Diner and Bistro 24. George was a man of faith, and his energy, dedication and passion to the people he loved will sorely be missed.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his six children, Michelle Villarose, Denise Iannelli (Michael), Jacqueline Hope, George S. Villarose (Larasz), Margaret V. Kelly (Sean) and Christine V. Bernhard (Kevin); a brother, Lawrence Villarose (Vera); a sister-in-law, Regina Villarose and by eight grandchildren, Zachary, Allison, Annalise, Olivia, Tessa, Ava, Kevin and Sebastian.

He was predeceased by his brother, Leonard Villarose and by his sister, Marie Pace.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown.  Family and friends will be received from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
