James O. Goodale

James Ogden Goodale, 95, originally of Yonkers and Massapequa, New York, and later Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Heatherwood Retirement Community, Honey Brook.

Jim was the son of the late Herbert and Ruth (Philp) Goodale. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Miller) Goodale. The couple shared 60 years of marriage.

After attending Gorton High School in Yonkers, Jim received his Bachelor’s Degree in French Literature from Wesleyan University, in Middletown, Connecticut, where he was member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He spent his career in New York City where he was the Vice President for Public Relations at Bankers Federal Savings and Loans for 30 years.

His love of music led him to join the Dessoff Choir in New York under the leadership of Paul Bopple. He was also a cellist in the Westchester Philharmonic under the conductor Vincent Autori. After he retired and moved to Fort Myers, Florida, Jim sang in the choir of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church for over twenty-five years. In addition to music, Jim loved sailing and was a member of the Point O’Woods Yacht Club and the South Bay Cruising Club.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son Jay Goodale and daughter-in-law, Amy McCready, his daughter, Barbara Goodale Berutti and son-in-law, Victor Berutti. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Jimmy, Michael and Julia Berutti.

Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
