Jonathan Roger Jones, 78, of Chester County passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at home under the loving care of his wife Karen Donovan.  Born in Hopewell, VA, Jonathan was the son of the late Thomas and Isabel (Anderson) Jones.  Jonathan was born February 11, 1943 in Hopewell, Virginia, and grew up in Chester County. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Education from West Chester University and his Masters Degree in American Literature from Lehigh University. Jonathan was a certified teacher in secondary education and spent most of his career as an educator, eventually serving as an Executive Director for Post-Secondary Education and traveling internationally to teach and train management teams. After retiring from education, Jonathan was employed by the United States Department of Commerce as a Census Bureau Field Representative. 

Jonathan was a member of the National Audubon Society, Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, and the National Wildlife Federation; he was also a long-time supporting member of NPR. Jonathan was a devoted, loving, and beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid reader and unwavering fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.  

In addition to his wife, Jonathan is survived by his children: Heather Karsten, wife of Roger, of Traverse City, MI, Brendan Jones, husband of Brandy, of Reading, PA, Catherine Loveland-Jones of Mt. Laurel, NJ, and April Evans, wife of Clyde, of West Chester; grandchildren: Maxwell, Nickolas, Juliette, Luc, Bodhi, Hudson, Braedon, Isaiah, Gabriel, Lily, and David; sister and brother-in-law: Sandra and Dean Haller, niece Danielle Bedford; and pinochle playmates and best friends John Pratt and Anna Boyce of Coatesville.  He was deeply grateful to his nurse at Holisticare Hospice and his sister-in-law Colleen Donovan for their love-filled care.  A celebration of his life for close friends and family will be held at a later date.
