Joseph Gregor, 88, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on Sunday, January 16, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was the husband of Sara (Sally) Johnson Gregor, with whom he shared sixty-three years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John and Hedwig Gregor and attended Scott High School. Joe was employed for thirty-nine years at Lukens Steel where he worked as a Press Operator. He was respected as a dedicated, dependable and hard worker.

Joe was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Downingtown and was a life member of the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 and the P.A.C.C. He was also a member of the Minquas Fire Company and the Beneficial Society Victor Emmanuel II, as well as a former member of the Atglen Sportsman Club.

Joe enjoyed being with his family. He loved the beach where he could bask in the sun for hours watching the pelicans fly so gracefully over the water, go fishing in the surf or spend the day out deep-sea fishing with his daughter, listen to music, eat fresh shrimp, and do so many other fun things with everyone. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they always brought a smile to his face. Joe was a natural handyman and could fix or build just about anything. He will be remembered for his dedication of never starting a job he couldn’t finish – he lived by the motto “do it right or don’t do it at all." Joe thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and taught his daughter along with all three granddaughters and countless others over the years how to fish. He also regularly tended to his yard which was always kept in pristine condition whether gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, or simply relaxing with Maizie Mae and a classic ice-cold coca cola on the backyard swing. Joe enjoyed playing the guitar and was also quite talented on the harmonica. Christmas was always a special celebration with Sally playing the piano, Joe on the harmonica and the girls singing their favorite songs. Joe was strong willed and dependable and was always there to support and provide positive guidance to his family.

Joe is survived by his wife Sally; his daughter, Lori Strauss (Philip); his grandchildren, Amanda Sell (Robert), Emily Pelletier (Jacob) and Stephanie Strauss (fiancé Taylor Pitts); his great grandchildren, RJ and Emma Kate Sell and Brayden and Alison Pelletier; his beloved pug, Maizie Mae; his brother, Nicholas Gregor (Jane); his brother-in-law, Allen Mendenhall; his sister-in-law, Karen Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and Sally’s parents (Richard and Marian Johnson), Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Paul Gregor; his sisters Ann Labiak, Catherine McCarraher and Mary Mendenhall; and his brother-in-law, Richard Johnson Jr.
