Mae M. Buckwalter

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mae M. Buckwalter (Sweeten) of Honey Brook, PA and Ocean City, NJ (formerly of Lima, PA) on December 4, 2022, at the age of 97.

She was predeceased by her parents David G. and Emma M. Sweeten and her husband Dr. Robert C. Buckwalter.  She is survived by her loving children, Wayne Buckwalter (Nancy Buckwalter), Linell Haug (James Haug), Sally Buckwalter (Brian Healy) and adored grandchildren Gabrielle Haug (Hrach Simonian), Brian Buckwalter, Graham Haug, Elise Buckwalter, Corinne Schell (Jason Schell) and Sennen Healy.

"Gramby" (a Mae creation for her grandchildren and used by virtually all family and friends) had a busy and fulfilling life.  She received a degree in business from Drexel University where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, was subsequently employed by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, had a lifelong interest in finance and was a partner with her husband Bob in operating their Veterinary practice. In addition to being devoted to her family, she was an avid reader and game player, maintained an active social calendar, was a consistent volunteer with many charities including the SPCA, American Red Cross, Fair Acres Geriatric Center and others.  Mae possessed a quick wit, keen intelligence and was always the first to offer to help others and with this came a wide circle of deeply caring friends.  She always enjoyed her time at the Jersey Shore.  Her Faith in God was constant and unwavering.  

On December 23, 2022, a celebration of her life will be held at Tel Hai, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook PA 19344 with visitation beginning at noon, a memorial service beginning at 12:30 pm followed by a luncheon to include all.
