September 7, 1929 ~ March 23, 2024 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

Marjorie Ann (Callahan) Jacobson passed away surrounded by her loved ones on March 23, 2024.  She was 94 years old. Margie Callahan was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the youngest of eight children to parents Anna G. Bauman and James A. Callahan.  She enjoyed ice skating at Powderhorn Park and summer parties at the lake where she met James “Jake” Jacobson.  Marge married Jake when he returned from the Korean War and they shared 63 years together before his passing in 2015.

Marge and Jake settled in Downingtown, Pennsylvania in 1964.  She was a devoted congregant of St. Joseph Parish for over 60 years.  Marge was a firecracker to the end and anyone who knew her will remember her boundless energy, insatiable curiosity, adventurous spirit, and sense of humor.  A natural extrovert, she was outgoing and welcoming of all, often engaging friends and strangers alike in conversation.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  She was the first to lead a sing-along and the last to leave a party.  Marge was a smart, strong, and determined matriarch who was dedicated to her family and proudly encouraged and embraced their accomplishments and attributes.  She never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events.

During her golden years, Marge and Jake often disappeared for months travelling the world to destinations such as Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Iceland, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, and many European countries.  Marge’s first order of business when travelling was finding a Catholic church to attend Mass.  A highlight was attending New Year’s Day Mass service at the Vatican and being blessed by the hand of Pope John Paul II.  Marge’s favorite destination was Hawaii where she visited each winter to spend time with family and friends at the Hale Koa.  Closer to home, Marge cherished boisterous family holidays and family vacations at the Delaware beaches.  During her last ten years, her children lovingly cared for her and made sure she could continue her adventures.

Marge is survived by her children Mary Jacobson, Linda Jacobson (Tim Ashinhurst), Susan Allport (Carl), Carol Sellers (Jeff), Jim Jacobson, and Bruce Jacobson (Patricia); her grandchildren Suzanne (Anthony), Kristin (Brian), Amy (Alison), Katie, Mary, Jimmy, Brian (Emily), Amanda (J), Emily (Hee), Matthew, and Carly; and her great grandchildren Brilynn, Bryceson, Everett, and her mini-me James, with Elsie and Caroline soon to arrive.  Marge is also survived by her brother Thomas Callahan.

In addition to her parents and husband, waiting for her in heaven are her siblings Caroline, Mary, Elsie, Gerald, Viola, and Lawrence.

Aloha Marge.
