Parke Hoffman Hess Sr.

August 14, 1934 ~ January 15, 2021 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Parke Hoffman Hess, Sr., 86, of Exton, PA, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Wayne Richardson Hess, Sr. and Myrtle Amelia Hoffman Hess. Parke graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1952, where he was much respected by his classmates who elected him Senior Class President. He then graduated with a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1956, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. After college, Parke served in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of Lt. Junior Grade and serving as a Supply Officer.

After leaving the Navy, Parke began his successful career in finance. His favorite day of the week was Sunday afternoon, when he never missed a football game, especially if the Eagles were playing. He cherished the time he spent as a member of the congregation at the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church as well as a Freemason. In addition to the incredible amount of joy he received from these activities, Parke believed, however, that his most important role was as a proud father and grandfather to his three children and four grandchildren.

He passed away peacefully at the PowerBack Rehab in Exton, surrounded in love by his two daughters.

Parke is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy Jane Maurer Hess, his children, Parke H. Hess, Jr. and his wife Vicky, Barbara H. Lanza and her husband Kerry, and Carolyn H. Smith and her husband David; and by four grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Lanza and Lauren and Alison Smith. He was predeceased by his siblings, Nancy Joyce McCoy and Wayne Richardson Hess, Jr.

Services will be held privately with the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
