Tribute

Paul J. DeMicco, 87,of Avalon, NJ, formerly Chester Springs and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Atlantic Care Hospital in Atlantic City.

He was the beloved husband of the late Bettina “Tina” DeAngelo DeMicco, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2012.

Born and raised in Nutley, New Jersey, Paul was the son of the late Grace DeMicco Dentato and was a 1950 graduate of Nutley High School.

After high school, Paul spent time bartending in Miami, Florida. He then enlisted into U.S. Army, serving in active duty during the Korean War and was honorably discharged due to medical conditions.

He met his bride while bartending in Wildwood and they moved to Aston to start a family.

Paul worked for Bettina’s family at The Black Angus Inn for many years until he purchased his own restaurant; The Peddler Inn located in Honey Book. After 15 years of restaurant ownership, Paul and Tina retired to Bonita Springs, Florida where they enjoyed being snowbirds.

Paul enjoyed the sun and could sit on his poolside lounge chair for hours soaking up all the Vitamin D he could possibly tolerate. Everyone always commented on how tan Paul would get.

His favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning was to visit yard sales. He would rise and shine quicker than ever to join the “4 O’clockers” as he would call them.

After his wife passed, Paul made Avalon, New Jersey his permanent residence and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at the Jersey shore every summer.

He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending mass regularly.

Mr. DeMicco is survived by his daughters, Pamela DeMicco of Magnolia, Delaware and Lisa Kelly and her husband Tom of Glenmoore; and grandchildren, Adam Wishin and his wife, Ashley, Alli Wishin, Liam McLaughlin and Jack Kelly.

In addition to his wife and mother, he was also predeceased by his son, Paul J. DeMicco, Jr.
