Perpetua M. "Pet" Kenny

Perpetua Margaret (M. Roche) Kenny, 87, of West Chester, PA died peacefully at home on September 22, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Perpetua was born on August 29th, 1935, in Middle Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. The daughter of Peter and Mary Ann Roche,and only sister to her nine brothers.

She worked at Bowring’s Department Store in St. John’s Newfoundland and loved fashion. When she was twenty-three years old, she bonded herself into the United States, a role she took great pride in and then became a United States citizen.
 

On April 30th, 1960,she was wed to Leo P. Kenny at St. Agnes Church, she was twenty-four years old. They were married for 55 years until his passing October 5, 2015. She had eight children, and she made a home for them that was overflowing with love. Her greatest joy in life were her children, she loved being their mom.

She is survived by her children: Leo Jr. (Iryna), Colleen (Gerard), Diane (David), Mary Anne (Russell), Marie (Matthew), Paul (Penny), Joseph (Richard), Glenn, Patsy Cowan (Don) and Amy Kepner; her grandchildren: Nicholas, Peter(Vanessa), Dustin (Kylie), Zachary (Mallory), Madeline, Paal, Owen, Bailey, Evan, Juliet, Breanna, and Scarlet; and her first great-grand child: Maximilian. 

Perpetua raised her children in her home, Price St., and was known to always keep the door open for anyone who might need a cup of tea or a listening ear. She loved to host parties and welcomed everyone into her home to celebrate the beauty of life. Her welcoming spirit made everyone she encountered feel her love. She was a light to all that knew her, and constantly tried to bring positivity in into every conversation. With Perpetua, you knew that her laugh was always just around the corner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay Street, West Chester.  Family and friends will be received from 9-10:15 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the International Dyslexia Association of Pennsylvania.
