Richard Kurt Barringer Sr.

Richard Kurt Barringer, Sr. 80, of Honey Brook, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Reading Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Mary Carole Campbell Barringer, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Coyte Barringer and Ruth Marie Herth Barringer.

Dick and Mary met when Mary was 13 years old, on the stage of Haverford High School.  Their love for one another grew from there, extending to their precious family. Dick was a dedicated member of his community throughout his life. He was a Sunday school teacher, scout master, band parent, youth choir director and mentor. Dick was an outstanding, supportive husband, father, and grandfather but his kindness and generosity extended to not only his family but all those who knew him. He supported Mary as she earned her degree and was the backbone for their children throughout life’s ups and downs. He worked as a major account representative, for 30 years, before his retirement from Philadelphia Electric Company. After retirement he was the owner of BRP Associates a consulting firm.

Dick was a 50-year Master Mason at lodge #309 in Downingtown, PA. He was a beloved member of the President’s Council of Immaculata University and a longtime participate of the Passion Play of Hopewell Methodist Church, Downingtown. Many will remember Dick by the songs he gave as gifts to all who had the pleasure of listening to him sing through the Bryn Mawr Barbershop Chorus, several Quartets at Hopewell Church, and treasured bedtime songs to his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his three children, Richard K. Barringer, Jr. (Patricia) Christine Boyle (the late Jim), and C. Peter Barringer (Dawn); six grandchildren, Richard K. Barringer, III. (Elizabeth), Stephanie Barringer, Samantha and Michael Boyle, Casey and Jacob Barringer; and by one great granddaughter, Poppy Linn Barringer.

Richard was predeceased by his brother, John Barringer and by his sister, Ruth Raibley.

An outdoor service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020 in the amphitheater of Hopewell United Methodist Church, 852 Hopewell Road, Downingtown, where family and friends will be received from 12:00 until service time.
